Chad Truxall

Chad Truxall is the executive director of the Marine Discovery Center, the nonprofit center’s board of directors announced this week.

Truxall, who began working with Marine Discovery Center in 2001 as a volunteer, had served as the center’s managing director since 2011. In addition to overseeing the day-to-day management of the center, Truxall will now “work closely with the board of directors on policy decisions, strategic planning “and will focus on cultivating long-term partnerships and donor relationships,” officials with the center said in a press release.”

“This is a unique opportunity because I’ve worked here at the ground level and have had a chance to see our grassroots effort bloom into our current facility,” Truxall said in the release. “I’m excited about our future and what we can offer the community.“
Truxall will spearhead the center’s oyster shell recycling program next year and the creation of a 4-acre salt marsh on the center’s 22-acre campus behind the building at 520 Barracuda Blvd. He will also oversee the long-range plan for the campus to become the Mosquito Lagoon Marine Enhancement Center, center officials said.
