Stan Doerr

Stan Doerr joined ECHO as Deputy Director in April, 2004 from World Vision, Mauritania where he and his wife Beth worked in Community Development, Stan as a Program Director and Beth as the National Agriculture Coordinator.

Stan has a Master of Science degree from the University of Texas (Pan Am campus) in Ecology and a B.A. degree from Mid-America Nazarene University in Kansas.

Mr Doerr began his overseas career in 1981, immediately after finishing graduate school, working first in education, then in community development and administration, starting in Swaziland then moving to South Africa and later to Malawi.  

In 1995 Stan and Beth returned to the United States and began working with the Chapin Living Waters Foundation as Agriculture Consultants.  This took them around the world working in numerous countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.  It was after 5 years of consulting that in 2000 Stan and Beth joined World Vision and moved to Mauritania.

In Feb, 2004, Dr. Price, CEO for ECHO, asked Stan to consider joining ECHO as the beginning of a succession plan designed to allow Martin to retire from the position of CEO.  After prayerful consideration Stan and Beth accepted the position of Deputy Director at ECHO.

In June, 2006 the ECHO Board of Directors appointed Stan to the position of President/CEO replacing Martin Price who had been the CEO since  1981.

Under Stan’s leadership, ECHO has expanded to open the first ECHO Regional Office in Chiang Mai, Thailand with West Africa and East Africa offices planned for the near future.  ECHO has also developed several strategic partnerships under Stan’s leadership including a research partnership with the Howard G. Buffett Foundation.
